Three and a half years ago, my literacy coach stood in front of my classroom, in the school where I had taught for almost 20 years, and loudly announced, “You don’t know what you’re doing! You’re not helping anyone!” This after twenty years of teaching in middle school, with positive feedback from four different administrators.
Yes, in front of all my students.
For the past two years, I have received the same positive feedback from parents in my work as a consultant and teacher, including the latest thoughts from a parent who called me a “miracle worker” for inspiring her daughter to write.
Thank you, literacy coach, I think I will consider the other feedback I have gotten. Your’s was not particularly helpful.
