Quite unexpectedly, part of my job as consultant is to hear from individuals who are mistreated by their administrator, or bullied by co-workers. It happens several times a week.
After 18 years in the same district, no bad evaluations, never coming in late, I left for the same reasons that are slowly driving these educators to the brink of exhaustion.
It is impossible to do one’s job under those conditions, and so many of us choose to leave when we can’t be the best teacher we can be for students. How can you teach when you are going into work on no sleep, with pains in your chest?
You can’t.
This article might be 8 years old, but it so captures the pain that so many educators are feeling.
